Cycles News, Dec. 12: The First House: Where Change Begins

You’re receiving this because at some point, you chose to ride the cosmic waves instead of resisting them—and signed up for our Cycles newsletter...

Hello Reader,

Whether you are hoping for an improved relationship, better health, or a new, more satisfying job, the answer begins with yourself. Why? Look at your astrological chart. The first house of Self reflects the body and its state, including health. The seventh house of Relationships is diametrically opposite the first, mirroring whatever changes you make there. When you feel more comfortable in your skin and more put together, you are also in a better position to recognize opportunities for better job satisfaction in the sixth house, career visibility in the tenth house, or simply more joy and fun in the fifth house.

So what is in store for the coming year?

Saturn is at the end of Pisces and about to enter Aries for one final time in the next 29 years, in mid-February. Will it engage your first house? If so, you may be asked to apply steady effort and discipline, emerging as a more grounded version of yourself. Or perhaps it is Jupiter that will affect your first house through transits. In that case, expect clearer and more visible opportunities for growth. Just make sure that growth does not show up too literally as an expanded waistline. :-)

What Collective Shifts Will Affect You?

There are two dozen notable shifts in the sky over the course of 2026, and it only takes three of them connecting with your first house to create meaningful change.

The Lunar Nodes change signs in July, shifting the tone of the entire planet away from individualistic demagoguery and toward a more collective and humanitarian consciousness. Neptune enters Aries in January, opening a new chapter. Will it call us to stand boldly for inspired ideals, or will it tempt us into plunging headlong into deeper illusions?

Lunations, eclipses, and Mercury retrograde effects will all be amplified for you if they touch points in your chart. Add to that Uranus reentering Gemini in April, Pluto lingering in the early degrees of Aquarius, and Jupiter entering Leo at the end of June. Chances are, something will connect with your first house. Are you curious to know what, or would you rather go with the flow?

Join Cycles Lab and Find Your Answers

If you are one of the curious ones, I invite you to grab a copy of your chart and join me for the final special-topic Cycles Lab of the year on Saturday, December 27, at 12 pm US EST. Please remember to register by December 20 if you need a copy of your chart or would like to be included in the discussion.

Cycles Labs special topics classes are with dedicated topics and recorded. The regular Labs are for Q&A only.

Solstice Time: Slow Down and Turn Inward

Elsewhere in the sky, Mercury is now direct, tempting us to return to full speed in mundane tasks, large and small. Do not be tricked by the eternal trickster. The cosmic time around the solstices is a time of turning inward, slowing down, and taking internal stock of your mental landscape. Solstices do this to all of us. Whether you live in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, they mark the turning point of the pendulum. If you can, leave the busy work for March and September, when the fast-moving swing of the equinoxes naturally accelerates everything.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Support for the Season

In the meantime, if you are a Jin Shin Jyutsu enthusiast, the Main Central is our best friend for the coming month. You can do the familiar six- or seven-step sequence from the Self Help books, or take the easy option by placing your right hand on your chest and your left hand on the base of sternum. If you have a friend or a favorite practitioner, ask them to give you the Main Central sequence with directions from the 1979 Textbook Edition. It is an absolute treat.

The 1979 Text is usually reserved for long-time practitioners. If you do not have the hand-direction instructions, drop me a line and I will share them with you privately by email.

Best,

Tatiana

Hello Reader, I was preparing for tonight’s Cycles Lab on Solar Return Charts—you can still hop in if you feel called—when I was reminded again how the Moon always brings change. She tugs at our moods and comfort zones, and before we know it, something shifts—inside or out. Today, the Moon is in Capricorn, a sign that favors quiet focus over drama. It’s a good day to simplify, get things done, and pause long enough to catch your breath—especially with Mercury Retrograde approaching on Nov 9....

Hello Reader, Why is nobody looking at Solar Returns as part of a longer arc? I’ve never found a book, a class, or even a mention of it. Even my astrological software won’t let me create charts beyond the immediate year. I had to switch to another app and get creative before I could look at my Solar Returns for the past three years. When I asked why on the software’s help site, they said, “Nobody needs it.” Really? I can’t believe I am the only one who uses this easy and powerful way to see...

Full Moon surrounded by clouds.

Hello Reader, Welcome back to Cycles. In just over a day, the Moon will reach fullness and enter Earth’s shadow in a total Lunar Eclipse. You may already feel the shift—last night it rose through the trees, stark in size and color, a vivid reminder that this is a powerful time for release. A Dream Practice Two nights ago, I asked my guides to heal subconscious trauma, guilt, and regrets while I slept. The Full Moon is ideal for release, so I thought: why not ask for the big help? Sure enough,...
