The mood of the week: Pause for Reflection

Hello Reader,

You’re receiving this because at some point, you chose to ride the cosmic waves instead of resisting them—and signed up for the Cycles newsletter.

All times are given in U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

This week in the sky:

This Week

Alert – Tuesday, Sep. 1 will bring three peaking astrological aspects plus a lunar shift. They will all tug in different directions, which might show up as tension, confusion, frustration, or being quick on the trigger.

The best thing to do is hold your horses and take time to reflect before you act, speak up, or agree to propositions. Try to stay calm, even if the waves are sloshing around you.

With that in mind, here is the day-to-day astrological weather.

Monday, Aug. 31

The Moon remains in Aries, and there are no shifts today.

At the same time, Jupiter trine Saturn peaks at 6:17 pm and then begins to slowly taper down. This aspect favors a blend of cautious optimism and steady effort—hard work meeting opportunity.

Tuesday, Sep. 1

The flowing Jupiter-Saturn interaction may be fading, but it is still palpable when another aspect peaks early Tuesday at 5:58 am.

Mars square Saturn has a bad reputation among astrologers for good reason—the two planets pull in incompatible directions. Mars brings impatience and the urge to act, while Saturn favors caution, restraint, and slow deliberation. The square makes them “orthogonal”—they have little common ground on which to compromise.

A weak response to this predicament is to oscillate between recklessness—a devil-may-care attitude—and paralysis, becoming too fearful or timid to do anything at all.

The frustration may also spill into spoken words as Mercury sextile Mars peaks at 9:21 am, giving voice to Mars’ impatience and aggression.

The Moon’s earlier shift from hot and bold Aries into cautious and deliberate Taurus at 4:01 am also favors slowing down. Do not yield to the temptation to rush.

Your best response is to take time to reflect on all aspects of a situation while waiting for the aspects to separate. And if you find yourself in an environment where you are the mature person in charge, you may be invited to play the King of Cups here: peacemaker, calming presence, and the one who helps hold everything else in place.

Wednesday, Sep. 2

There are no shifts on Wednesday, though we may still feel some ripples from Jupiter trine Saturn, Mars square Saturn, and Mercury sextile Mars over the last two days. Simply continue to keep your calm and pause for reflection before you commit to action.

Thursday, Sep. 3

The Moon enters Gemini at 7:47 am, so we may feel the tone shift toward air—intellectual, curious, quick, and clever.

Friday, Sep. 4

No shifts today, so the tone continues the themes from the previous day. Friday is also the Last Quarter Moon before next week’s powerful New Moon. It is the last opportunity to finish what needs to be finished. Over the next week, we will be collectively turning inward to receive New Moon insights.

Saturday, Sep. 5

The Moon enters Cancer at 10:30 am, bringing the comforting and calming energy of Cancer, the ultimate master of emotions.

Look back at the week and see if you were able to:

"…keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you…”

Sunday, Sep. 6

No shifts or changes today. If you feel your nerves have been frayed this week, give yourself some support through the JSJ flow for harmonizing the Spleen (Cancer) Function Energy. See below for the sequence.

Pluto and Neptune are locked in a sextile in the sky. They have been playing this dance since July, moving in and out of position. Currently, both planets are retrograding slowly into the earlier degrees and forming an exact sextile—Pluto at 3°24′ Aquarius and Neptune at 3°24′ Aries.

What do we get when the planet of moral courage (Pluto) interacts with the planet of divine inspiration (Neptune)? Profound spiritual transformation? The rise of the Divine Masculine? The transmutation of a dying world into a new, resplendent, and regenerated one?

The interplay between the planets through the sextile aspect continues throughout this year, recurring twice a year all the way to 2032. After that, there will be no sextile between the two until the 24th century.

And we are right in the thick of this powerful period, even though we might not yet fully realize its scale, scope, or final purpose.

Steady the system

Spleen Function Energy Flow, also known as the Anterior Ascending Vertical Harmonizing Energy, boosts our immune system, brings sunshine into our lives—literally and metaphorically—and is an all-around go-to flow for regular self-help.

Hindsight

I think different aspects of my life are integrating in a very interesting manner. My physics course at the College, which was initially scheduled for this fall, has moved to next spring due to factors outside of my control.

Last Christmas, when I meditated on the year 2026, I envisioned an Effortless Reality class this fall, which has now also moved to next spring.

It appears that the time for teaching a class is the same, no matter whether that happens at my day job or in my metaphysical work.

It is my own field that determines the timeline, and it no longer has separate compartments for this or that facet of my life simply because that is how I organized it in the past.

Curious, that!

Effortless Reality

Hi, I’m Tatiana—a physicist turned spiritual explorer. In Cycles, I look at how the same laws that shape the physical universe also guide our inner lives—and how we can use them in practical ways every day. Each issue explores cosmic patterns like eclipses and retrogrades through both scientific and metaphysical perspectives, with simple self-help tools from Yoga and Jin Shin Jyutsu to help you live more effortlessly in sync with life’s rhythm.
