Hello Reader,

You’re receiving this because at some point, you chose to ride the cosmic waves instead of resisting them—and signed up for the Cycles newsletter.

All times are given in U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

This week in the sky:

Highlights

Compared to last week, this one is relatively quiet. That is, unless last week's shifts catch up with us and burn us down. We'll see.

In the meantime, here are some specifics:

Monday, Sep 28

The Moon enters Taurus at 10:40 am and brings some sense of groundedness. Help yourself even further by harmonizing the Large Intestine Function Energy.

Here is a video on this:

Tuesday, Sep. 29

The Moon continues in Taurus, and unless you have sensitive spots in Taurus or the other fixed signs—Leo, Aquarius, and Scorpio—you can let things flow as they are.

Take time to appreciate simplicity and Nature.

Wednesday, Sep 30 –  a Mercurial trifecta:

One. Mercury enters Scorpio at 7:44 am and brings our perception and attention to deeper topics and the search for underlying truths.

Two. At 1:26 pm, the Moon enters Gemini, Mercury's natural ground, so mercurial activity may be amplified. To help yourself process information and events around you, harmonize the Stomach Function Energy.

And three. Wednesday is traditionally ruled by Mercury.

That's a lot of Mercury for one day—pay attention to the speed and changes in your perception, communication, and thinking.

For a JSJ flow that helps us get out of our heads, scroll down to the Steady the System section.

Thursday, Oct. 1

Thursday marks officially Mercury's pre-retrograde shadow. It is the transition period between direct movement with our perception and intellectual antenna outwards to retrograde, when we go inward and do some navel-gazing and life-reflection.

So, take the next three weeks to put your external affairs in order. Do not leave high-stakes transactions and purchases for later, when Mercury turns retrograde and our attention naturally turns inward and introspective.

Friday, Oct. 2

At 3:54 pm, the Moon enters Cancer, the energy most in tune with and in control of emotions.

And control means being on top of them—not suppressing them. Harmonious Cancer knows how to cry, scream, and wail. And then it knows when to stop and move on to something else. It understands the power of emotions and how important it is to give them an outlet.

So, go with the flow and feel your feelings today. Give yourself five minutes to experience them fully. Then check: Do you need another five minutes, or are you done?

Rinse and repeat until you get over yourself and are ready to move on to greener pastures.

The JSJ energy corresponding to Cancer is Spleen, and the sequence for harmonizing Spleen is awesome and powerful. It was the very first multi-step sequence I ever practiced, and I continue to love it to this day.

Saturday, Oct. 3

Venus turns retrograde at 3:16 am in Scorpio.

Venus symbolizes value—what we value, how we value ourselves, and what we attract as a consequence of those values. Scorpio is the energy most intent on finding the deeper truths in life. Together, they bring the potential to dig deep into the values department and fish out the truth.

Do our values serve us? Are they even true? Do they bring us satisfaction? And, most importantly, how do they bring abundance into our lives?

For JSJ, I'd focus on Mudras 1 and 7—to exhale our thoughts and ideas of lack and scarcity so that we can see what lurks behind them.

Sunday, Oct. 4

The Moon enters creative and dramatic Leo at 6:54 pm. Now we play.

Put away the chores and take some time for creative expression. Paint, make something, dance, write, play—express yourself in whatever way you feel like, for the sheer pleasure it brings you.

Hold your little finger for 10–20 minutes today to harmonize your Heart Function Energy, the JSJ equivalent of the astrological Leo.

Steady the system

If Wednesday proves to be too much in the information processing department for you, here is a way to get out of your head and into your body.

Harmonization of SEL 20

Step 1. Place both hands on SEL 20s (above the eyebrows).

Step 2. Place both hands on SEL 21s (cheekbones).

Step 3. Place both hands on SEL 22s (clavicles).

Or, simply place both hands on SEL 15s at night and fall asleep holding that position.

Hindsight

What a surprise last week was! I focused most of my attention on Friday and Saturday, anticipating the restless and possibly aggressive Mars in the anaretic degree of Cancer paired with the powerful and unsettling Full Moon in Aries.

But you know what? I didn't feel much of that energy. Or, at least, I didn't notice it against the background of something else.

The Tuesday energetic shift around the Equinox turned out to be so pronounced that it disturbed my peace for most of the week. And I was slow to even notice, initially blaming my foul mood on a work-related corporate training that I had to do Tuesday and Wednesday.

It wasn't until Friday, when I felt so untethered, that I realized something is not quite as I thought. I had to get out. I went to the nearby park, sat on the bank of a small stream, cleared my head, and finally got to the bottom of it.

The new-world energies are here, but they don't feel the way I thought they would. There was no elevation, no sense of a higher, more evolved dimension, and certainly no unicorns and rainbows. Instead, I got anxiety, discontent, and a spiral down into a rabbit hole of grievances.

Is that what we get every time a new energy arrives? Is that what our job is now? To accept it, stabilize it, digest it, and then fully incorporate it?

Until the next shift. And then the next.

Suddenly, I appreciate this prolonged but gradual step-up process. I don't even want to think about what it would have been like had we chosen to go the more dramatic route.

Here are some more musings on this from Friday:

Until next week!
